Bare Naked Music - I discovered this CD back in 1993, when I was living in Japan, through a music magazine...well, it was half of this CD. I had found a mail-in offer for a seven song acoustic set from: The Allman Brothers Band, live in Los Angeles. Acoustic Allman Brothers? Yeah, count me in on this!Well, that short seven track CD of live Allmans with acoustic guitars, quickly became one of my favorite discs. This updated version adds a seven song acoustic set from Amy Ray & Emily Saliers, known to the world as The Indigo Girls, and doubles the length of the CD to 69 minutes. The live set of The Indigo Girls is outstanding. At the time of this show at the Radio & Records Convention on: 06/11/92, the girls had been touring to support their recent release: Rites Of Passage. The sound of this show is amazing, as if the Indigo Girls are playing in your living room. With two guitars and two voices, these great songs: Joking, Welcome Me, Ghost, Galileo, The Water Is Wide, Three Hits and that big Hit: Closer To Fine have never sounded better. 5-Stars for The Indigo Girls half of this CD.The Allman Brothers, have never released an official live acoustical record, so this half of the CD is very unique. From the opener: Come On In My Kitchen throught to the closing chords of: Melissa, its all bright and crisp, as versions of: In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed and Seven Turns have a wonderful sound clarity, new life is brought onto these old favorites. Gregg, sounds like he had a home in a Mississippi cotton field in 1932. Dickey Betts, is always relaxed in an acoustic setting, and on this, he is at his best. The Allmans, are a full band for this performance, and even un-plugged, they are still a force to behold. Midnight Rider is one of their best, and this is the best live version that I have heard. The lead guitars of Warren and Dickey, play of each other as only string wizards are able to accomplish. I loved this CD in 1993, and it has doubled in greatness, with the addition of Amy & Emily s set added on.This is a Five-Star CD... but, I have lowered the rating to: Four-Stars, because it is so rare and so hard to find, and if you do locate this, you are going to have to bring in a bag of gold to equal the purchase price. This CD needs to be released officially by the record corporations, it is too good to hide from the music fans any longer!
