Excelent First Experience - When I got this cd it was my first time listening to the Indigo Girls and it became one of my favorite instantly. The songs are very touching and also soothing to listen to. My favorite is Power Of Two about the relationship between a mother and daughter, it is very sweet.
4.5 is appropriate in context - If you consider Land of Caanan from Strange Fire, Then 4.5 is an appropriate name. This album does not do enough to cover what the Indigo Girls did over these first FIVE albums (Strange Fire, Indigo Girls, Nomads, Indians, and Saints, Rites of Passage, and Swamp Ophelia). If you want a greatest hits, buy 1200 Curfews, or even better spend your $30 buying 2 or 3 of the first five albums and really see the depth these albums contain. I give it 3 start simply because these are all good songs. However, the first 5 albums by I.G. are full of great songs (a rarity for many albums today).
This CD is a great summary of early I.G. - I got this CD after buying Indigo Girls, rites of passage and Swampo Ophelia for my mother. It is a greta collection of all the great songs from the early indigo girls CDs. It is hard to find and it is great that amazon has a copy. Basically all the great songs on the first 4 discs are on the CD (that s why it s called 4.5 it is better than all 4 discs combined :-) Ideally you should buy the originalk 4 discs buit if you can t get this, it has some very good songs like power of 2, least complcated and ghost. A bit expensive but a great CD. Great gift for the IG neophyte. Buy this if you don t wnat to spend like $60 for the other 4 CDs. But i would suggest buying them eventually, especially Swamp Opehlia (that CD kicks!)

4.5 is truly a TREASURE for Indigo fans! - Indigo Girls 4.5 is a rare find and I was pleased to see it out here on Amazon.com. This is a wonderful combination of studio recordings up through their Swamp Ophelia album and includes many of my personal favorites. A perfect choice for new fans trying to decide where to start! Also like most of their albums it contains alternating Amy(intense, sarcastic,rocking, thought-provoking) and Emily(uplifting, hopeful, wistful, gloriously melodious) selections. If you are a true fan your collection is not complete without this one!
